Happy Halloween

When we left Willcox, I had to take a picture of our friend. Appropriate for Halloween. I hope the new owners don't kill her. When she first started building her web she was tiny. She was eatin' good! I hate spiders, but one good thing about living in AZ was that I found out there is something worse than spiders--cock roaches. How can you see this and not think it was kind of
cool? Happy Halloween!

Back on Earth

We have finally got ourselves situated here in Maine. Just in time for the winter.. yesss. I know a lot of you are wondering if I was ever going to update. I'll start at the beginning. It has been a hectic and eventful month or two. We left Willcox to make the drive. If you're wondering how we got here these are the cities we spent the night in. Albuquerque, Amarillo, Tulsa, St. Louis, Louisville, Charleston, Harrisburg, Hartford, Portland, and finally here we arrived. Now here is where I would insert pictures of all these cool cities, but I left my camera in Willcox--actually I found it under my seat with a bunch of toys when we got here. I only thought I left it. We enjoyed watching the landscape change as we drove. There was so much to look at and take in... and so much for me to think about-- the drive never got boring. With two kids it did get loud and frustrating, but never boring. Thank goodness for DVD players.

For now we are living in a nice little basement apartment--small, but it works. We are going to buy something soon I think, but we are still cruisin the market. We have just been getting a feel for everything here and so far we really like it. It snowed tonight for the first time. Playing catch up isn't very fun. I can't write a tenth of what has been happening. This is all I got --with pictures to come as soon as I can swing it!

Good Bye

My friends here are the best. They did a little surprise goodbye lunch for me. It was so sweet of them! ( I love you guys! Thanks!) It is hard to leave. I never thought that Arizona would really feel like home, but it does. The movers are coming tomorrow and we will leave a few days after that. I will take us about 10 days to drive there (by the governments 300 miles/day rule). I will try to post as soon as I can with storied about how fun the drive there was! Anyway, This is me signing off from AZ.

Home for Now

We got back from our Maine house hunting trip a couple days ago so it's catch up time. I am getting a little sick of explaining where we will be--look for Caribou on the map. That's the place! It is so amazing there. I knew it was going to be beautiful, but pictures just are never like the real thing. We drove up to Caribou from Portland which is about a 5 hour drive. We spent some time up there meeting people and getting to know the area. I am feeling a little weird because people there were so nice. More than once I found myself looking around asking, "were you talking to me?" The lady at the drug store even let me use their "non-public" restroom. A couple of logger guys at Mcdonalds told me I was gorgeous. Nice confidence boost. We couldn't get out of the church because people wanted to talk to us--I'm sure us south-westerners are fascinating--that or just weird. I knew we stood out, but I don't know why ...... yet.

Here are a few pictures from out trip--with more to come in a month or so--I know you're all on the edge of your seat for every post, but I fear this will be my last until we get settled up there.

This is Old Orchard Beach just outside of Portland (really close to Biddeford-Caleb) We planned to go to the beach and were surprised when people were there in swimming suits--it was barely 70 -- Sorry I'm not in a swimming suit. I know you're all disappointed!

This is a really cool church in Portland. There are churches every where out there and each one is very unique.

This is Mars Hill. A popular ski resort area--if I remember right it will be about 1/2 hour from us. Notice the wind energy thingys--what are those called?

The other side of the river is Canada. We were considering a house on the river. Couldn't do that down south!!

If you look close you'll see a moose..this is pretty typical of what the landscape is like there. Unless there is a farm or a house it is just thick with trees.

There's nothing as nice
as a new teddy bear
To tickle and cuddle
and take everywhere
to share all your secrets
your laughter and tears
to keep by your side
through seasons and years.
There's nothing as nice
as a new teddy bear,
except for an old one
with memories to share
.

Coming to AZ--Happy Birthday my Kayla!

We have been busy with family visits for the past few days. Jase's brother Brian and his wife Ashley moved here last week. Jase's parents were down for the weekend to help with the move so we got to have some time with them before we go out to Maine in a few more weeks. Grandma and Grandpa Mathie spoiled them as usual, but I guess that's what grandparents are for. Grandma bought them some really cool beads that Mckenna played with for hours! Work it girl!

Kayla turned 2 on the 14th. We just did a small family party. I can't believe my little baby is 2. She has got to be the cutest 2 year old. We did a sand castle cake and it turned out so cute. Kayla loves to play in the sand (as most 2 year olds do). Grandma and Grandpa got her a cute new baby with all the hip accessories. Brian and Ashely got her some really fun books, a cute puzzle and to be funny the big glasses--which everyone took turns trying on. Happy birthday my little Kayla!

Happy Birthday Papa Bear!!

Today is my dad's birthday so of course I have to post and tell you all how amazing my dad is. Me and my dad are a lot alike. He is a great example to me in everything.
If you know my dad then you know that he can fix anything.

He is an avid reader and it shows by how knowledgeable he is about so many subjects. My dad has the best sense of humor. Sometimes I joked with my friends that they were using me to come hang out and talk to my dad.

I have so many great memories of my dad. He has taught me so much about how to live the gospel and how to be responsible.

He taught me to drive the tractor and I loved when my dad would take me to the dentist because he always stopped for shakes on the way home. There are so many countless things my dad has done for me and there is no way to thank him--except to be the person he has taught me to be! Happy Birthday Dad! We love you so much!
